Logroño to Nájera

Today was a long day 30k, but a great day. The weather was beautiful.
As we walked out of Logroño this morning we saw this murrial.

Very cool. The street art on the camino is really amazing. This guy has camino stamps all over him.

The big bull along the side of the road is the only road sigh allowed. It is a symbol of Spain’s heritage.

Today we met people from New Zealand, Australia, Germany, and Korea. It is really fun after a long day to sit and have a beer and meet people.

Tomorrow is May Day in Spain. Which is a huge national holiday. We have gone to get anything we might use.

 Nice easy day tomorrow 21k

Torres del Rio to Logroño

Today was a nice short walk. Only 21k. We. Started out early just as the sun was coming up. The first part of the walk was crisp and clear. Today we were blessed with beautiful weather. We walked about 12k before we got to the first town which is Viana. What a great place a hill town with a church in the center. In the square is a big fountain for pilgrims to fill their water bottles. We stopped and had a nice breakfast before continuing on to Logroño.

This is some street art along the way.

I must admit that I love the vino tinto from La Rioja.

Part of an awesome lunch with my camino amigos. It is called a chulitone
Which is a big T-bone steak served on a sizzling plate with potato’s and peppers of course.

Tomorrow we have a long day 30.1k.

Estella to Torres del Rio.

Today was the first long walk. We walked about 28k which is just over 17 miles. As my body gets used to carrying the extra weight and doing the distances I feel better and better.

The road today was beautiful. We walked through beautiful fields of green grains, saw many vineyards coming to life, and many farmers tending to their gardens.

We came across a food truck of sours out in the middle of a wheat field. It was owned and run by a guy who walked the camino last year. It was really cool to be able to stop and talk to him and of course have a zumo naranja.

I am staying at a nice albergue in Torres del Rio that even has a pool if it were hot.

Tomorrow we are off to Logroño.
