Today was a difficult day. The climb up to O’Cebrero is hard. The challenging part is that you walk 20 some kilometers before you start the 6 km climb. It is steep and constant. I am always happy that I can do hard things. This one was a big one. I stopped at an Albergue called La Escuela 2km before O’Cebrero. It gets great reviews and there really is nothing in O’Cebrero that gets much but condemnation. I don’t really care if I stay there so here I am. Funny enough I have always stopped here for a coffee and something to eat but never stayed. Neither have I stayed in O’Cebrero as I usually walk on the Fonfría.
The albergue here is really nice. I am staying in the dormitory but it’s single beds. The shower was awesome! Just one person in the bathroom at a time which is a treat since you don’t have to worry about your valuables. I paid to have my clothes washed and dried so I am good to go for another 3 days.
Today is Wednesday and I will walk into Santiago on Monday so I am getting close. I have two more days of peace and quiet and then I arrive in Sarria. Sarria is the traditional starting point for the last 100km. It gets very crowded from there.
