Camino 2025 Day 9

Today I started out pretty early, around 6:45 am. I knew that I was walking a long day so I wanted to get started. I have been sleeping amazing. Last night I fell asleep about 9 and did not wake up until 6. For me that is great.

I walked from Barbadello to Ventas de Narón about 20 miles in just about 7 hours. The walk was mostly ups and downs. I met an American couple from Minnesota very nice. They first walked in 1999. Totally old school. I really enjoyed talking with them until the man, Eric brought up politics. Now I don’t talk politics on the Camino and never bring it up. If someone from Europe brings it up I just nod and listen. But an American doesn’t get a pass. As you can imagine he was critical of our president. I warned him that it was not a good idea to talk politics on the Camino but… So we had a discussion.

Other than that today was an absolutely beautiful day. I am only 3 days from Santiago and honestly could make it in two if I walked two 36km days. I’m not going to but I will get very close on Sunday so its a very short walk in on Monday. I am staying in totally different places each night so this Camino is a fun change from my usual choices.
