Today I started in the dark. We started walking at 5:45 because we had a 30km day. That equates to 18.6 miles. It was not terrible, but we had to walk 12.4 miles before there was anyplace to get coffee. That was terrible. We arrived in Hornillos del Camino after about 10 km and there were no bars open. I was able to go into my favorite shop and get a bocadillo, and more importantly use the restroom. I’ve gone into that shop every time I have walked the Camino. I the owner only had coffee it would have been perfect.
Another 11km to Hontanas and everything was open. Of course as a creature of habit I walked down to el puntado which is were I usually stay and had two cafe con leche’s, a zumo naranja (fresh squeezed orange juice) and a big piece of tortilla with jamòn y queso, it was delicious. There were a ton of Americans there stopping for bacon and eggs. Very funny but that is what they are known for.
I finally arrived in Castrojeriz and am staying at an albergue owned by a Korean couple. Dinner is Bibnbop so I am excited to have Korean food.
