Last night our replacement Hospi’s arrived. Rob and Inez are veteran’s who have been volunteering on the Camino since 2001. They have an amazing story of how they found each other on the Camino in 1999 and have been together ever since.
The past several days we have filled all of our beds and our 2 overflow mattresses in a matter of minutes, ultimately turning away pilgrims who arrive after about 3 pm.
We have had such a great mix of pilgrims from young to old from all around the world, speaking many different languages and yet we are all existing and living together in harmony.
All of the pilgrims for the most part have been very respectful, helpful and a joy to be around.
I could not have been more fortunate to have been placed with my compañera Jacqui. We have worked very well together and been a great team. By all accounts our pilgrim guests have been very happy to stay with us.
Tomorrow I begin walking. I will walk a short day tomorrow from Nàjera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada. About 21 km or 13 miles. I have a cold right now so I don’t want to push it too hard. I hope to start to get some sleep tomorrow and begin to recharge and recooperate.
